The PERTAN Group is a
professional consulting firm that started in 1986 under the name of Tanner and
Associates. In April 2000, we merged
with the consulting firm Perez & Jandrich to form The PERTAN Group. Our principal and overriding purpose since
our founding has been: To provide our customers with a diverse analytical,
modeling, and software engineering capability.
This capability is aimed at defining and structuring management s
technical and organizational challenges so that practical, lasting solutions
can be developed.
The PERTAN Group has an
excellent proven record of performance of services for the Federal
Government. Our largest clients include
the United States Army Engineer Research and Development Center/Construction
Engineering Research Laboratory (ERDC/CERL), the United States Army Medical
Command (MEDCOM) and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US
EPA). We are currently managing and executing three multi-year Indefinite
Delivery Indefinite Quantity Contracts with the Federal Government, having a
total dollar value of $
7,000,000.

Offered
Position requires a minimum
of 4-year college degree, and probably will be filled by a person with an
advanced degree in engineering, the sciences, statistics and mathematics,
business or related field. Will have extensive experience in the field. Person
will develop and manage strategic direction for projects. Person is at a high
level in the company. Depending on the project, this person may be a domain
expert or, more probably, a multi-discipline expert.
Specifics: Makes decisions
and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an important
impact on extensive engineering and management activities. Will exercise mature
engineering and business judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented
engineering and management problems, determining program objectives and
requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and
guides for diverse engineering and management activities. Recommends
facilities, personnel and funds required to carry out programs, which are
directly related to overall organization directives. Is a recognized leader and
authority in his organization in a broad area of specialization (i.e., multiple
disciplines). Directs several subordinate supervisors or team leaders.
Position requires a minimum
of 4-year college degree, and will most likely be filled by a person with an
advanced degree in engineering, the sciences, statistics and mathematics,
business or related field. Will have at
least a medium level of experience in the field. Person will manage the
day-to-day activities of technology-focused subordinates. Work is independent
and when not managing these people, works on the tough problems for the
project, which require a high degree of expertise in their disciplines.
Specifics: Provides
technical or business area leadership. Applies
intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering and management principles
and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. Makes decisions
independently on engineering and business problems and methods and represents
the company in conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and
coordinate work. Requires the use of advanced techniques and the modification
and extension of theories, precepts and practices of his field and related
sciences and disciplines. Work at this level requires progressive experience.
In a supervisory capacity, plans, develops, coordinates and directs a large and
important project or a number of small projects with many complex features. As
a staff specialist, would develop and evaluate plans and criteria for a variety
of projects and activities to be carried out by others. Plans, organizes, and
supervises the work of a staff of engineers and analysts.
Position requires a minimum
of 4-year college degree, and may be filled by a person with an advanced
degree, in engineering, the sciences, statistics and mathematics, business or
related field. Will have at least a
medium level of experience in the field. Work assignments indicate the general
research problem, overall project objectives, resources and scheduling
constraints. Final work is reviewed for soundness of technical results and
compliance with basic project objectives. Detailed findings, calculations and
recommendations are accepted as technically accurate.
Specifics: Applies intensive
and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad
areas of assignments and related fields. Makes independent decisions on
engineering problems and methods and may represent the company in conferences
to address questions and to plan and coordinate work. Requires the use of
advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts
and practices of his field and related sciences and disciplines. Provides data
models that are the results of business systems planning and data requirements
planning. Provides input for systems development and data base administration
groups from a data point of view. Also perform business and technical designer
functions, including making contribution to both the business and technical
architecture components of the enterprise solution area/business process
specialists and experts, supporting /technology specialist and experts, and
review/assess enterprise solution products for accuracy and consistency. Work
at this level usually requires progressive experience. May supervise or
coordinate the work of technicians and others who assist in specific
assignments.
Position requires a minimum
of 4-year college degree, and may be filled by a person with an advanced degree
in engineering, the sciences, statistics and mathematics, business or related
field. Will have at least a minimum level of experience in the field. Work is
periodically reviewed for adequacy and technical quality, compliance with basic
project objectives and guidance and timeliness. Detailed findings, calculations
and recommendations are reviewed for accuracy, adequacy and conformance to
accepted scientific and engineering practice.
Specifics: Perform business
and technical analyst functions. Independently evaluates, selects and applies
standard techniques, procedures and criteria using judgment in making minor
adaptations and modifications. Assignments have clear and specified objectives
and require the investigation of a limited number of variables. Performance at
this level requires developmental experience in a professional position. May
supervise or coordinate the work of technicians and others who assist in
specific assignments.
Position requires a minimum
of 4-year college degree, and may be filled by a person with an advanced degree
in engineering, the sciences, statistics and mathematics, business or related
field. Is an entry-level position with
at least one year of experience. Work is periodically reviewed for adequacy and
technical quality, compliance with basic project objectives and guidance and
timeliness. Detailed findings, calculations and recommendations are reviewed
for accuracy, adequacy and conformance to accepted scientific and engineering
practice.
Specifics: Applies standard
engineering techniques, procedures and criteria using judgment in making minor
adaptations and modifications. Work under direct supervision.
Position requires a minimum
of 4-year college degree in computer science, computer engineering or software
engineering. Will have progressive experience in software development. Populated by person(s) with software
knowledge, limited specific domain expertise is expected although experience
with software languages in the domains shall be required. Responsible for
designing and prototyping changes in the software arena. Will be instrumental
in testing overall changes in the software.
Specifics: Independently
applies highly-specialized knowledge, both theoretical and practical, in
computer systems analysis, programming procedures and criteria using judgment
in making adaptations and modifications.
Assignments have clear and specified objectives and require the
investigation of a limited number of variables. Work requires consistent judgment in applicability to final
product. Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a
professional position. May supervise or coordinate the work of technicians and
others who assist in specific assignments.
A Budget
Analyst/Administrative assistant has a high school degree and 5 years of
experience.
Provides administration
support to staff. Responsibilities include accounting, filing, maintaining the
library; typing and preparation of letters and technical documentation such as
Technical Reports, Working Notes, briefings, monthly progress reports, and
spreadsheets, etc. Supporting staff in preparation of proposals.
A Secretary/Typist has at
least a high school degree and three to five years experience in an office
environment. Has general office
management responsibilities. Experience
must include at least three years of experience in using personal computer
software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database management.
