INSTRUCTOR-LED TRAINING
27-500 COURSE DEVELOPMENT AND TEST ADMINISTRATION
SIN 27-400: Instructor-Led Training
Calyptus takes a process view toward training. This means
that all training activities should be focused on filling a gap in skills
or knowledge or providing those competencies that will provide staff with
growth and development opportunities. We believe that the establishment of
the training curriculum should be based on a well-crafted needs assessment
focused around key dimensions of the job or competencies required to
fulfill the goals of improving the organization s supply chain.
All training should be supported by top management and
staff members should be briefed by their management prior to attending
training events. This ensures that the staff and their managers agree on
the expected outcomes and application of the training. It is also
essential for post training follow-up to determine whether, in fact, the
training has served its intended purpose.
Page 4
Training activities support the organization s overall
strategy, and training measures fall with the "Learning and Growth"
category using the Balanced Scorecard. The return on investment of the
training should be tracked and evaluated.
We believe that training adults is a specialized field, and
providers should be sensitive to the needs of the adult learner. This
means that the training curriculum should be designed to be interactive
and allow the learner to apply the knowledge gained during the course of
the program and receive feedback on performance. Action plans to be
implemented after the training should be included in the training design.
Calyptus follows a
consistent method when designing, developing, conducting and evaluating
training. We begin by indicating the outcomes desired by the training
based on skills or competency assessments. We then develop a curriculum
outline with both learning and behavioral objectives. Once the curriculum
is approved by the customer, we develop the material and include
interactive case studies and exercises. We may use subject-matter-experts
from the customer to tailor the orientation to their industry and
environment. Once the materials are approved by the customer, we conduct a
pilot program and make any necessary changes based on feedback. We then
conduct the program in a "full-release" mode and ensure that data is
collected and analyzed after every training offering to ensure that the
materials and instruction are the best possible. We work with the customer
to validate the ROI and survey the training participants about the value
obtained. Thus, the flow of the training process can be described as
follows:

SIN 27-500: Course Development and Test
Administration
Calyptus Consulting Group, Inc. is a small business qualified for NAICS
611710 (Educational and Support; Services) and NAICS 611430 (Management
Development; Professional Development, and Quality Assurance Training).
In addition to our
government course development and test administration experience, Calyptus
has developed courses and trained personnel at all levels across many
industries including manufacturing, defense/aerospace, software, financial
services, consumer goods, personal services, chemicals and oil industries,
and health care. We specialize in the areas of purchasing and procurement
and offer both off-the-
Page 5
shelf and customized
programs. Our solutions include instructor-led training, web-based
training, CD-ROMS, video conferencing and Webex.
Our programs are highly
interactive and hands-on. They are designed to solicit viewpoints from
people in different lifestyles and stages of development. Experience has
taught us that adult learners like to focus on a single-concept; integrate
new ideas with current knowledge; and participate in learning-based
projects. Therefore, we apply the 'learning by doing' principle, thereby
improving training effectiveness. Creative and innovative approaches are
used to ensure participant involvement, including presentations,
self-assessments, team/group exercises, simulations and role playing.
Generally, we use multimodal training methods that incorporate LCD
projection, overhead projection, flipcharts, case studies and exercises to
ensure "active student participation."
Participants will not only gain knowledge -- they will learn how to
implement best practices immediately.
We use a variety of tools
and strategies for gathering data, decision-making, and managing group
behavior. We focus on content, process, and results.
We specialize in the
design, development, and conduct of training in the following areas:
Contracting
Conflict Resolution
Procurement
Quality Systems
Team-Building
Interpersonal Skills
Negotiations
Supervisory Skills
