Site Characterizations and Assessments: HGC has conducted numerous soil and groundwater contaminant investigations throughout the United
States, including but not limited to chlorinated volatile organics, semi-volatiles, petroleum hydrocarbons, perchlorate and heavy metals.
Remedial Investigations and Feasibility Studies: HGC has conducted numerous
RI/FSs throughout Arizona and the United States, accessed remedial alternatives, and selected technically appropriate, cost-effective solutions for soil and groundwater.
Risk Assessment: HGC has performed numerous risk analyses including health-based corrective action for soil and groundwater risk-based analysis of atmospheric discharge, risk- based natural attenu
ation and health-risk-based evaluation of drinking water treatment
by-products.
Groundwater and Soil Sampling and Analysis: HGC has designed numerous groundwater sampling plans and routinely conducts groundwater sampling
programs. HGC maintains a field sampling crew and support equipment including sampling pumps and field analysis water filtering instrumentation. HGC
maintains a field geologist staff to supervise drilling and soil sampling programs. Additionally, we provide in-house field screening and analysis
instrumentation to support such investigations.
Well Design and Construction: HGC utilizes its staff of hydrogeologists to permit, design and construct wells throughout the Southwest. These include groundwater production wells, groundwater monitoring wells, vapor extraction wells, free-product removal wells an
d vapor monitoring wells.
Remedial System Design Operation and Maintenance: HGC has significant experience in providing both conceptual and field-scale engineering design for soil, groundwater, and air treatment systems. Our geosciences and engineering staff have a wide range of design to
ols available to allow them to optimize system efficiency and minimize construction and operation costs. HGC has operated and maintained numerous remedial systems. These systems include groundwater pump and treat, product removal, vapor extraction, groundwater s
parging, slurry wall containment, bioremediation, and monitoring of natural attenuation.
Construction Management: HGC routinely provides construction management and bid solicitation oversight services to clients throughout Arizona. The services are provided directly by field staff maintained by HGC. Additionally HGC is a licensed contractor in the S
tate of Arizona for the construction of soil and groundwater remediation systems.
Site Closure and Abandonment: HGC is experienced with state and federal policies and procedures for site closure. Our experience with site closures includes USTs, solid waste facilities, RCRA, and state and federal CERCLA sites. Additionally, HGC has overseen ab
andonment of numerous remedial systems and extraction/injection/monitoring wells.
Hazardous Waste Profiling and Disposal: HGC's project work routinely requires profiling of hazardous or potentially hazardous waste and materials to ensure proper transportation and disposal. HGC supervises the pick up, transportation, and disposal of these was
tes in a manner consistent with State and Federal regulations.
Negotiation with Regulatory Agencies: HGC has successfully negotiated client's positions on numerous occasions to both state and federal agencies.
Our success is based on cogent, well-defined rationale and our understanding of contaminant behavior in the environment. As a result of our technical
approaches, experience, and expertise, HGC has enjoyed an excellent reputation with regulatory agencies.
Research and Development: HGC maintains an active R&D program that has produced significant technical contributions to the environmental industry,
including
-First firm to apply automatic calibration techniques to groundwater flow models.
-Development of numerical transport and biodegradation models to design SVE and air sparge systems.
-Pioneered the use of isotopic tracers to quantify groundwater impacts from industrial lagoon seepage.
-Developed low energy UV treatment systems for destruction of organics and recalcitrant contaminants.
-Received patent for the development of a
baro-pneumatic method that accurately estimates landfill gas
generation.
