POSITION DESCRIPTIONS
Desktop Publisher
Minimum/General Experience:
Has four or more years experience in the desktop publishing of manuals,
reports, publications, instruction books, presentations, proposals and other
technical documents. Experienced in
on-line and in standard review and editing of technical documents for
organization, format, consistency, quality, accuracy of content and conformance
to established standards. Demonstrated
experience in document layout and production preparation of technical
documents, reports, and papers. Is
knowledgeable of and is adept in the use of current word processing, graphics
and publishing computer systems and applicable software applications. Has sufficient technical experience to
complete document tasks independently and to assist in the coordination and/or
completion of multiple tasks.
Functional Responsibilities:
Provides desktop publishing support for manuals, reports, publications,
instruction books, presentations, proposals and other technical documents in
preparing material for desktop publishing, ensures optimum organization,
format, layout and content and provide for the orderly safeguard of technical
documents. May conduct pre-flight
review of documents and may review blue line documents in concert with
technical writers and staff as required.
Ensures documents accuracy, consistency of style, compliance with format
and adherence to original content.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s Degree, Associate Degree or High School Diploma with at least
eight years relevant experience as editing assistant or writing experience in a
business, library, information management, education, or related field.
Graphic Designer
Minimum/General Experience:
Has four or more years of experience in the planning, design and
creation of charts, graphs, illustrations, reports and brochures using on-line,
electronic, digitized photography, mechanical or computer-aided equipment and
programs. Demonstrated creativity and
resourcefulness in developing graphics products. Is proficient in the use of state-of-the-art specialized tools,
equipment and computer hardware, software applications and peripherals. Has significant experience in planning,
monitoring and managing and teaching various graphics tasks and activities.
Functional Responsibilities:
Uses mechanical and computer-aided drafting equipment and programs to
prepare detailed drawings of components and assemblies for web sites, reports,
charts, illustrations and graphs for publication, presentation or client
deliverables. Supervises the design,
layout, editing and preparation of ready for production graphics and overall
document/graphic integration. May
formulate concepts and renders illustrations for multi-media usage, e.g.,
animation, video, audio-visual. Directs
the determination of optimum style, technique and medium to produce desired
effects in conformity with reproduction requirement. Coordinates the selection of type, lettering and layout material
and supervises related design functions.
Oversees planning, direction and coordination of work activity and
training of technical staff.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s Degree, Associate Degree or High School Diploma with at least
four years relevant experience as graphic artist, graphics.
LAN/Hardware
Specialist
Installs,
configures, and maintains the company's network. Maintains external and
internal Internet presence. Supports, monitors, tests, and troubleshoots
hardware and software problems related to network and Internet services. Provides
end user support for all network-based applications. Installs and configures
workstations, hardware, and software. Performs a wide variety of complex tasks
using a wide variety of creativity and latitude.
Minimum Education:
Requires a degree in a related area, or IT certification plus a minimum
of five years experience in the field.
Senior Computer Programmer
Minimum/General Experience:
Has eight or more years of management experience in the analysis,
design, development, installation or support of complex computer software
programs in broad multi-user areas such as acquisition/development of systems
and equipment, library systems, archival systems, knowledge and information
management, education and training management, financial management, logistics
planning and facilities management. Is
competent in programming techniques and work processes and highly knowledge of
programming languages, open systems architecture and computer equipment. Is proficient in program, resource, and
contract management and government acquisition procedures.
Functional Responsibilities:
Provides senior level program and/or project management of individual or
major task(s) of government contracts.
Assesses, evaluates, or translates advanced concepts into practical and
effective applications using structured techniques. Oversees the planning and coordination of work activity and
training of technical staff. Directs
the analysis of requirements, development of specifications and flowcharts,
performance of programming tasks and implementation of complex programs,
including LAN/WAN networks and comprehensive databases. Manages the development of alternative
design approaches, recommends redesign of programs and oversees the modification
of programs for more effective operation.
Directs the installation, testing, documentation, maintenance and
preparation of operating instructions of programs.
Minimum Education: Requires advanced degree, or a Bachelors Degree with at
least 10 years relevant experience, or Associate Degree with 15 years relevant
experience in a computer science, information systems, library, knowledge or
information management, or a related field.
Senior
Multimedia Specialist
Develops
and implements the interface, front pages, and tools to navigate a web site.
Works under the direction of the Internet Services Director to design online
user experiences. Designs and constructs web pages/sites including
incorporating GUI features and other techniques. Maintains and provides ongoing
update of web sites. Troubleshoots issues with existing sites and resolves
them. Performs site testing. Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent
experience plus 2-4 years experience in a related field. Familiar with standard
concepts, practices, and procedures in the field.
Technical Writer
Minimum/General Experience:
Has four or more years experience in the technical writing and editing
of manuals, reports, publications, instruction books, presentations, proposals
and other technical documents. Has
ability commensurate with year’s experience in research, analysis and
composition of technical data for clarity, brevity and appropriate style and
terminology. Is experienced in the
review and technical editing and copy editing of documents for organization,
format, consistency, quality, layout and preparation for production, accuracy
of content and conformance to established standards. Is knowledgeable of and is capable in the use of current word
processing, graphics and publishing computer systems and applicable software applications. Limited experience in monitoring contract
and other tasks and activities.
Functional Responsibilities:
Performs the research, writing, review, editing and rewriting of
technical documents such as manuals, reports, publications, presentations,
studies, proposals etc. Translates
technical information into clear, readable documents used by technical and
non-technical personnel. Researches
information sources such as library resources, technical documents, client, and
company personnel to obtain and verify technical data. Performs the proofreading and editing of
documents for proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax and usage. Edits and rewrites documents to ensure
accuracy, consistency of style, compliance with format and adherence to original
content. Coordinates with technical
staff to determine the optimum organization, format and content of technical
documents to include layout and preparation for production. Safeguards technical documents.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s Degree, Associate Degree or High School Diploma with at least
four years relevant experience as technical writing.
Website Design Administrator
Minimum/General Experience:
A minimum of five years of experience working directly with Internet
sites, either in development or support.
Excellent familiarity with HTML, Perl, JavaScript, Scripting/CGI, and/or
PHP. Experience with Unix and other operating systems.
Functional Responsibilities:
Coordinates development of content structure and website appearance with
the content and graphic teams. Develops
and updates websites’ technical plan.
Sets up, maintains, and programs the web services. Installs operating systems and
software. Runs and maintains
databases. Monitors website activity
and analyzes user statistics. Provides
guidance to organizational elements utilizing the website.
Minimum Education:
BS in Computer Science or Associates degree and two years experience or
high school degree with five years experience.
