Federal Government Travel Management
Travel Management Partners (TMP) is a privately owned travel company that began operations in June of 1994. John Lewis, the President of the company and Wanda Shankle, the Executive Vice President of the company owns TMP on an equal basis. TMP focuses solely on the Federal Government and corporate travel market with special emphasis on managing and/or establishing on-site travel offices and off-site dedicated travel operations for corporations.
The company generated over $270 million in commercial airlines sales in 2004, thus making it one the largest travel management companies in the United States. This impressive growth has been accomplished internally with the addition of new clients since the company began 11 years ago.
Travel Management Partners is headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina. This office serves as the command and control center for the companies on-site and satellite operations throughout the United States. TMP Meeting Services, Inc., a corporate meeting planning organization and a subsidiary of Travel Management Partners is also housed in the headquarters facilities in Raleigh. TMP Sports is a division of the company that focuses on arranging travel for the collegiate and amateur sports markets. TMP operates 27 full service on-site and 45 satellite operations in 37 states and the District of Columbia. Although TMP is one of largest travel management firms in United Sates, the company currently services only 21 dedicated clients, thus client service is offered at a very high level. Additionally, TMP operates a dedicated travel center in Jacksonville , North Carolina to meet the corporate travel needs of specific corporations within its client base. The company employs 152 people in its United States based operations.
Travel Management Partners also operates a wholly owned travel company in the United Kingdom called TMP UK Limited. This operation is based in Edinburgh, Scotland and provides travel services for TMP s U.S. customers that have offices located in the UK and that require a European travel presence. TMP UK Limited also services other clients that are based in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe.
The company has extensive experience in the area of Federal Government and Cost Reimbursable Contractor Travel. Currently, TMP is the sole travel provider for a number of Department of Energy facilities including the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and the Idaho National Laboratory. Additionally, TMP is the travel provider for several cost reimbursable contractors including Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), an $8.2 billion company that ranks as the largest employee-owned research and engineering firm in the United States. SAIC provides products and services to a number of federal agencies including the CIA, NASA and the DOD.
Travel Management Partners offers a highly competitive pricing schedule and provides highly customizable travel solutions. The key to the success of Travel Management Partners is a commitment to service excellence and providing customized products to its client base. Its clients view TMP as a solution provider in the area of Federal Government Travel. This approach has spawned several proprietary products unique to Travel Management Partners. These include TMP s own proprietary analysis and reporting system, Travel Trakker that gives the TMP client accessibility to detailed, accurate, and timely travel data. TMP operates its own proprietary on-line booking system called CorpTrip that can be individually customized to each client. Development of the TMP CorpProfiler product allows the traveler or travel arranger to load and maintain their traveler profile online.
The final result for the TMP client is a more advanced travel program designed around their specific needs with emphasis on high levels of customer service and maximum cost avoidance.
